Where can I go snow cat skiing?
Located off Route 93 north of Whitefish, in Olney, Stillwater State Forest is home to the only snow cat skiing in the Flathead region. Utilized by one local outfitter, the forest features pristine runs, averaging over 800 vertical feet.
Starting in December, snow cats roll out with a handful of skiers looking for the once in a lifetime thrill of skiing over 16-square miles of backcountry. The 15 to 16 person cabin inside the snow cat is great for small groups and families. On average, snow cat skiers can enjoy up to a dozen runs per outing.
Stillwater State Forest offers varied terrain, from beginner hills to expert slopes, and is good for almost every level of skier.
